- Refractive Status
Evaluations are made for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and the benefits of glasses and contact lenses. - Visual Acuity at Near Distance
Is vision clear and single at close distances? Clear sight at short distances is critical to reading, writing, close work and computer use. - Visual Efficiency
Evaluations are made for visual tracking, focusing and eye coordination ability to ensure maximum performance for school, work, and leisure activities. - Eye Teaming Skills
Do the two eyes aim, move, and work as a coordinated team? Weakness in binocular (two-eyed) vision and eye teaming skills can cause numerous difficulties. - Eye Focusing Skills
Do the eyes maintain clear vision at varying distances? Rapid automatic eye focus adjustment is critical to learning, reading, writing, sports, etc. Deficiencies can cause visual fatigue, reduced reading comprehension, and/or avoidance of close work or other activities.
Ortho-k: an Alternative to Glasses, Contacts and Surgery

Ortho-k or orthokeratology corneal reshaping therapy uses a vision retainer to gradually re-shape the front surface of the eye (the cornea) to temporarily eliminate or reduce nearsightedness (myopia) or astigmatism during waking hours. Ortho-k retainers are similar to contact lenses and are usually worn during sleep. They are removed upon awakening and provide clear vision without using glasses or contact lenses. Nightly wear is needed to maintain clear vision during the day. The retainers are comfortable and very easy to care for. Patients can see all day without glasses, contact lenses or laser surgery. And by utilizing FDA approved materials, Ortho-k is a safe and effective option for both children and adults. To see how an Ortho-k retainers work while you sleep, click here.
Contact Lens Services
Have you been told or thought that you couldn't wear contacts because of dry eyes or too much astigmatism? Dr. Tsai and Dr. Thomas have extensive experience fitting difficult cases such as excessive astigmatism, dry eyes, and bifocal contact lenses. There are currently dozens of new contact lenses designed for the individual who has needs at multiple distances: up close, intermediate and at a distance.
Dry Eye Management
Dry Eye Syndrome is a growing epidemic that has eye care professionals around the world concerned. Our doctors are dedicated to help patients that suffer from this very distracting eye problem. Dry eye syndrome is similar to what it sounds like but constitutes a lack of lubrication or moisture in the eyes related to the tear film and production of natural tears. This syndrome can be caused by a wide variety of factors including the natural aging process, over-the-counter cold medicines, contact lens wear and environmental factors.
If you suffer from a scratchy, dry or a burning sensation you may be experiencing dry eye. In order to properly diagnose this problem you should come into our office for a visit with Dr. Tsai or Dr. Thomas. At your visit we will conduct several tests to determine the severity of the dryness.
Glaucoma Service
Our doctors often diagnose and prescribe treatment for glaucoma. Our sophisticated equipment assist the doctor in determining the status of glaucoma and help monitor the patient's condition after therapy (most often eye drops) is initiated.
Laser Vision Correction Co-management
The doctors at The Eye Studio work closely with experienced surgeons in the area, providing pre-operative consultation and post-operative care. During your consultation visit, Dr. Tsai will conduct a thorough medical history, assess the stability of your prescription and evaluate your eyes for any eye diseases or health problems that could potentially impact the outcome of your surgery. She will also discuss your expectations for LASIK and whether it's possible to meet them.
If you decide that LASIK is right for you, Dr. Tsai will refer you to an experienced surgeon for the procedure. Since the outcome of your laser surgery depends as much on the right care afterward as the procedure itself, Dr. Tsai will provide all of your post-operative care including frequent examinations of your eyes to ensure proper healing and answering any questions you may have during the healing process.
While LASIK is an exciting option for vision correction, it is not a choice that you should make based on advertising or price alone. It's a complex procedure that requires several clinical visits, in-depth discussions, and careful guidance in selecting the best surgeon and the best laser system for your eyes and your visual demands.
